You can't fix stupid!

I saw this bumper sticker on a car today.

It made me so mad, I wanted to vandalize the car. I didn't though!

OMG! REALLY??? One more proof that you can't fix stupid!
All these brain washed people here in the "bible belt"..... Urgh... makes me sick to my stomach!

How can it ever be wrong to marry someone you are in love with? Doesn't matter if same or opposite sex. How can love ever be wrong?

America still has a long way to go.... and it will go slow... crawling...

People are so blinded and brainwashed. I can not understand how there can still be people out there who truly believe it is a choice which sex you are attracted to.  Seriously? It is NOT a choice!  There are same sex relations in the animal kingdom. Animals don't choose! They live the way they are!

Everyone should have the right to be with the person they love.
But then again... it is mostly just a certain group of people who follows a certain religion, that are so narrow minded!
I met some through and through awful, nasty, just plain mean people in my life.... needless to say they were all Christians.
I know of very few Christians who are nice, decent people and who use their religion to better themselves.... very few! 3, maybe 4!

Anyways.... I really hope that one day this will not be an issue anymore.
But I fear it will always just be a dream.....

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday Kent!

For Kent's 28th birthday on December 14th we went to Fogo di Chao in Atlanta. Kent wanted to go there for a long time and we decided to treat ourselves to unlimited meat. Sounds kinda gross when you think about it. They also have a great salad bar ;)

I made reservations online and mentioned that it was my husbands birthday that day. Seems like they actually read my message because after we had stuffed our faces with very high class meats and salads, they brought a piece of chocolate cake (that we hadn't ordered) and wrote "Happy Birthday" on the rim of the plate.

I really do enjoy going to fancy restaurants once in a while, places where you have to dress up and they have a good wine card and the waiter pulls the chair out for you.
Unfortunately those places are expensive!

After tasting his first bite there Kent said: " We should eat here every day."
He also commented on a piece of filet mignon with:"It is like a meat marshmallow."
Yeah... it was a great night out, even though it ended with some drama. Kent's (former) friends had to start drama again... but fortunately they are out of our lives now for good and we now finally can live our life without constantly getting negative comments about our way of living.
I am just sad that it happened on his birthday. But at the same time it is one more proof that they don't care about anything but themselves. In this sense: Farewell Losers!

In der Weihnachtsbaeckerei.....

For the first time since moving to the US I made christmas cookies.
I remember making various types of cookies with my Mom and Grandmother when I was a child. Various types doesn't even cover it. One year I recall my Grandmother having made over 20 different kinds of cookies.

I am not a big fan of cookies... I am very picky when it comes to them. But I love to make and decorate them.
Honestly, I thought that they would not come out to be edible, but to my surprise they are not too bad.

Here are some pictures of my master pieces....

                                                          Sugar Cookies

                                                     home made Choco Crossis

                                                     Gingerbread

Family Cookies : Kent , Micha , Butch , Rah

Happy Yule!

X-Mas Wish List

When I was a child everyone in my family would write a wish list for x-mas which then would be passed around and everyone could pick something for the other person and knew they really like it.
So I decided to put my x-mas 2011 wish list on here... in case someone wants to buy me a present ;)

- Kohl's Gift Card

- Complete Series DVD Set of Friends

- Scene It Friends
- Corelle Dinnerware Set (preferable 2 sets, so I'd have 8 plates, 8 bowls etc)
"Corelle Simle Lines 16-pc Dinnerware Set"
These would be the things I'd like the most (besides the obvious - $$$ LOL).

Happy Holidays!!!!

Knit, Purl, Knit

One of the fun things that came with my new job is that the 2 other females in the office LOVE to knit. I myself LIKE to knit. I am not as crazy about it as they are, but I enjoy engaging my needles once in a while.

I also learned that "knit" means "right" and "purl" means "left". Otherwise I still have a very hard time reading knitting patterns.

My goal is to knit a sweater within a year. A sweater I can actually wear.

This weekend I started on a throw/ afghan/ blanket - whatever you wanna call it.

I started with a few rows (1inch) of rainbow colored seed stitch, followed but grey yarn in a 1 row Knit, 1 row Purl pattern. In between there will be some more rainbow colored 1inch wide seed stitch rows.
Lets see how long it will take me to finish.
My right wrist is already sore from all the knitting this weekend, lol

Fall

Today is the first day in weeks that it is raining outside.
We really really needed the rain.
The grass in our back yard is mostly brown and the leaves on the trees started turning brown already.

As much as I love the really hot weather down here, I also enjoy a rainy day and some under-90F weather.

I guess Fall is just around the corner.  That means my birthday is around the corner and Halloween... my favorite holiday!

Happy Birthday Rah

On September 1st, our little kittie Rah Orion Fitch turned 1 years old.

He is not so little anymore....

He is still scared of pretty much EVERYTHING, but he now at least has some minutes a day when he wants to be petted and cuddle; mostly in the morning when we get up for work and don't really have time to play with him.

Happy Birthday Rah!

Time flies

Oh my... it has been over a month since I last posted anything on here. Time flies when you are having fun.
I hope every one had as much of a great time int the month of August than I did.
August 2nd I started my new job and I am absolutely LOVING it.  It can be stressful at times and I still have to learn a TON, but I am happy there (as happy as you can get at work... it is WORK after all).
I work with fun people and I feel I can, eventually, be really good at this.

In the past month, every day I go to work, I am sooooo happy and proud that I am a working woman and not just one of those typically American females who call themselves "stay at home Moms" or " homemakers" just so they don't have to do jack sh*t all day but sit at home, play on the internet 10 hours a day and spend their husbands money. How I loath thee! How dare! How dare these lazy asses think they have ANY right to their husbands money if they contribute absolutely NOTHING to the marriage.
Hey, if someone just had a kid and they have the financial means for her to stay home with the new baby for a while - good for them. I am talking about those parasites that refuse to work. They never had a real job before they got married and as soon as they found a dumb enough guy who took them they refuse to even think about getting a job every again.
I am so happy and proud of myself that I  can pull my own weight.  I am financially completely independent.
I have a career and am still taking care of our household.
... I am getting carried away again.

Anyways, all I wanted to say is that I enjoy working at my new job and I am hoping to be able to stay there for a while and grow and thrive with the business.
I still want to go back to school at some point though, probably online. We'll see.... for now my priorities are my job and the house we will hopefully be able to buy in a few months.

Happy Anniversary!

Happy Anniversary to my hubby and I!
I can't believe it has been a year since we got married!

We had agreed on a "little something" for an anniversary gift.
So I got him a T'shirt .... and now I feel horrible because he got me a Kindle.
When I reminded him of our agreement of "something little" he said: "But it is something little. Look at how tiny it is."
I love him!

My new (old) obsession

I have a new (old) obsession .... BERRIES!
I love them! I always loved them.
I remember growing up I would go outside at my Grandma's house and eat berries right off the bush. She had a variety of berries in her garden.... blueberries, gooseberries, blackberries and my favorite: wild raspberries.
For years I thought strawberries where my favorite... but I recently realized that it is really raspberries that I like most.
Trying to change my bad eating habits that I acquired while at Ft. Sam, I remembered how I love smoothies and shakes. No, not the kind you get at McDonald's ... healthy ones, with organic milk and naturally grown organic berries. Nothing else.
Unfortunately I live over 20 miles away from the nearest WholeFoods and Trader Joe's, but from where I work it is only 10 miles to a TraderJoe's.
While living in Mt Prospect, IL I would do most of my grocery shopping there. It is a great store. Natural , healthy food at an affordable price.
I started going to the one closer to work during my lunch time. Unfortunately that limits me a bit to "go-grab what you need- and get back to  work", instead of looking around and browsing the aisles. But then again, lunchtime is the worst time to go grocery shopping. All the oh so busy stay at home Moms have to go at the exact same time as the working people, who only have a limited time during lunch. And of course they bring all their brats, all 3 , 4 or 5 of them. They scream and cry (yeah I know it is lunch time , I am hungry too) and Mom is busy chit chatting with the other Moms and their brood.
.... oooops, got carried away a bit... where was I? Oh yeah, berries....
So I stuck up on natural organic frozen berries (mixed berries and raspberries) some almond milk to go with it  and put it in a blender! HEAVEN!
It tastes just wonderful, is super healthy and gives you so much energy.
I am really happy I re-discovered my passion for good berries.
Doesn't this look just so yummy?

SophistiCat

... more proof that my kitty is the cutest, bestest and smartest of all :

He knows how to sit properly :D  ... he is so sophisticated , a true SophistiCat :D

)O( Micha

Awwwweeee.... OUCH!

Aweeee.... isn't Rah the cutest kitty ever? Well, I know he isn't,but it seems to be the custom that every Mom thinks their kid is the cutest and smartest in the world although they are really all the same (unless they are a genius and can play the piano at age 2 or are total retards). Other than that - all kids are the same the first few years. And so are kitties - but of course since this one is mine I have to insist of it being the cutest and smartest of all.

Anyways.... this morning Rah tried to eat my finger:

                                          OUCH!

It didn't really hurt - probably because since my kitty is the smartest in the world he knows not to hurt Mommy. LMAO!

What is a Triquetra?

Triquetra is a noun derived from the Latin tri- ("three") and quetrus ("cornered").
Its original meaning ws simply "triangle" and it has been used to refer to various three-cornered shapes.
Nowadays, it has come to refer exclusively to a particular more complicated shape formed of three vesicae piscis, somtimes with an added cicle in or around it,
This has been used as a religious symbol of things and persons that are threefold.

Germanic paganism:
The triquetra has been found on runestones in Northern Europe and on early Germanic coins. It presumably had pagan religious meaning and it bears a resemblance to the Valknut, a symbol associated with Odin.
(This is expecially interesting for me, an old Kraut myself.)

Other aspects:

The Trinity Knot holds major significance in Irish Celtic mythology in that it is believed to represent the three stages of woman (Maiden/Wife, Mother, and Crone (old woman).
In contemporary Ireland, It is traditional for a man to give a loved one a trinket such as a necklace or ring signifying his affection towards her. It is believed to represent the three promises of a relationship such as to love, honour, and protect. It is common for the design of the Trinity Knot to be engraved on a wedding ring and attaches to a Claddagh ring
(another Irish traditional ring given for friendship or engagement)
Germanic Neopagan groups who use the triquetra to symbolize their faith generally believe it is originally of Norse and Germanic origins.
The symbol is also sometimes used by Wiccans and some NewAgers to symbolize either the Wiccan triple goddess or the interconnected parts of our existence (Mind, Body, and Soul).
Also the triquetra is a symbol of protection in the Wiccan religion. It is also said to represent family; Father, Mother and Child.
It is difficult to date the exact origin of the Celtic triquetra, and whether it was first used in a Christian or pagan context; the distinctive interlace/knotwork artistic style did not fully develop until ca. the seventh century A.D., but the triquetra is the simplest possible knot.

I want....

I want a new tattoo!
Yeah I know, my husband HATES tattoos, but oh well.... I hate long hair (hint hint - get a haircut already Justin Bieber look alike :D).
There is actually 2 tattoos I still want ....
A tripple moon tattoo like this:

But I am not sure WHERE I want it. So it will have to wait until I find the perfect spot on my body for it. It is, after all, permanent.

The one I already know a place for is a Triquetra.
I am just not sure if I want a plain one like this:

Or a more fancy one like that:

What I do know is WHERE I want it : on my foot... near my rigth pinky toe in that little corner up there. It is going to be a small tattoo though.

But FIRST I have to accomplish another thing in my life. THEN I will reward myself with this tattoo. It will not be for another couple months until I will even be close to accomplishing this, so I know I won't get the tattoo this year. But that's ok. It is something I want and in order to get it I have to accomplish this other goal I set for myself.
And NO I am not telling yet.... it will be a surprise ;)

Work

Here are a few pictures of the place I spent most of my days at now during the week: the office.

My desk, right next to our refrigerator (and my office plant on top.

                                                 View from my window.

My business card (I feel important now LOL).

My desktop background. Sooooo cute! It always cheers me up when I am really really frustrated at work (which happens a lot).

I got a new one!!!!

I got a new one.... a new vacuum cleaner!

When Kent and I moved to GA, I had brought my old tiny vacuum cleaner that I used in my apartment in IL and he brought his Mom's old vacuum (which weight about a ton and was a workout in itself just to carry it up the stairs).
So FINALLY we decided to bite the bullet and invest in a new device.
Living in a fully carpeted house with 2 cats (and a hairy husband) I knew I needed a vacuum with outstanding skills.
We did some research online and agreed on a Dyson ball. First we were going to get the orange one, but then we noticed that there was a purple one, specifically for animal hair. It was love at first sight! It had only good and excellent reviews, it was great for vacuuming pet hair and it was PURPLE!
Now my vacuum matches my phone and my laptop! :D

Buon Appetito

Hmmmmm... this is definitely one of my favorite summer foods: Caprese
Mozzarella cheese, tomatoes and fresh basil with a hint of extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
Super Yummy! Especially when it is hot out.

Buon Appetito!

I am back!

WOW, I just realized how long it has been since my last entry.
I should try not to wait so long in between posts.

A little over a week ago I finally got it - my brand spanking new blue passport :D

It was a long journey and hard work to get it.
I remember when I worked at the airport in Salzburg, Austria and whenever a passenger had an American passport I said to myself: "One day, one day I will have a blue passport. One day I will be an American!"
And now I do!

Unfortunately the picture is really bad. Those bio metric pictures are never flattering.

Blessed Beltane!

Blessed Beltane everyone!

Beltane kicks off the merry month of May, and has a long history. This fire festival is celebrated on May 1st with bonfires,

Maypoles,

[The maypole was an adjunct to the festival of bringing in the May. It is a phallic symbol, and as such represented fertility to the participants in the festival. In olden days, the revelers who went into the woods would cut a tree and bring it into town, decking it with flowers and greenery and dance around it clockwise (also called deosil, meaning "sun-wise", the direction of the sun's apparent travel across the face of the Earth) to bring fertility and good luck. The ribbons which we associate with the maypole today were a later addition.]

dancing,

and lots of good old fashioned sexual energy

The Celts honored the fertility of the gods with gifts and offerings. Cattle were driven through the smoke of the balefires, and blessed with health and fertility for the coming year.
In Ireland, the fires of Tara were the first ones lit every year at Beltane, and all other fires were lit with flames from Tara.

How do modern day pagans observe this day?
Modern day pagan observances of Beltane include the maypole dances, bringing in the May, and jumping the cauldron for fertility. Many couples wishing to conceive children will jump the cauldron together at this time. Fertility of imagination and other varieties of fertility are invoked along with sexual fertility. In Wiccan and other Pagan circles, this is a joyous day, full of laughter and good times.

What about Walpurgisnacht? Is this the same thing as Beltane?
Walpurgisnacht comes from an Eastern European background, and has little in common with the Celtic practices.
Walpurgisnacht, a traditional holiday celebrated on April 30th in northern Europe and Scandinavia. In Sweden, typical holiday activities include the singing of traditional spring folk songs and the lighting of bonfires. Celebrations in Finland include a carnival and the drinking of alcoholic beverages, particularly sima, a type of mead.
In Germany, the holiday is celebrated by playing pranks on people, and creating loud noises meant to keep evil at bay. Many people also hang blessed springs of foliage from house and barns to ward off evil spirits, or they leave a piece of bread spread with butter and honey, called Ankenschnitt, as offerings for phantom hounds.
The origins of the holiday date back to pagan celebrations of fertility rights and the coming of spring. After the Norse were Christianized, the pagan celebration became combined with the legend of St. Walburga, an English-born nun who lived at Heidenheim monastery in Germany and later became the abbess there.
Walburga was believed to have cured the illnesses of many local residents. After her death she was canonized as a saint on May 1st. Although it is likely that the date of her canonization is purely coincidental to the date of the pagan celebrations of spring, people were able to celebrate both events under church law without fear of reprisal.

When I was little, my Mom used to tell me about Walpurgisnacht as it being the night when the Witches had their annual meeting at the "Blocksberg" to celebrate, dance around a fire and ride their broomsticks. I always wanted to go there and ride on a broom stick lol.

New Job

I have a new job! YEY!!! ... well.. yey! This is going to be quite some change in my life after 6 months of being a stay at home wife. But it is time to join the working population again. I miss sleeping in and having the house to myself during the day already. lol
So, enough wining, here are the facts:
I will be working for a newly founded company who sells high end hunting equipment, clothing, weapon cases, etc. except the actual weapons.
All the merchandise will be imported from Europe, mostly Germany and Switzerland. My job will be to make sure it goes through customs smoothly and solve any potential issues, also process orders, check on the shipping department and making sure they are working and the numbers are up to date and correct and being the German speaking link between Europe and USA.
Together, Kent and I now make enough that we can start looking for houses to buy by the time our lease expires in January 2012.
I am very excited about that.

Speaking of Kent.... he is such a wonderful hubby. When I told him I got the job he said he will take me out for dinner to celebrate, but didn't say where.
All I knew was to dress nice and be ready by the time he gets home from work because we have to be in downtown Atlanta by 7pm.
I was suspecting him to take me to the "Biergarten", Atlanta's German restaurant, but I was wrong.
He took me to BENIHANA! I have never been and always wanted to go.
I love him <3

We ate a ton and they even took a (complimentary) picture of us.

It was very yummy - especially the Philly Rolls Sushi :D
