15 years later ....

The first time I came to the US was in March of 1995 during an exchange of my High School in Germany with a High School in Lititz, PA. I have always been fascinated by America and couldn't wait to finally set foot on this great country. What I didn't expect was that I would get obsessed with it. After only a few days in the US I knew this was it - this is where I want to live for the rest of my life.
Easier said than done....
Being a Citizen of a First World Country (like Germany) does not help if you try to get a visa for the US. It is beyond difficult and they make it almost impossible for any one who wants to come to this country LEGALLY.
Years and years of research, entering Green Card lotteries and lots of traveling between Germany and the US finally paid off.
In December of 2005 I was offered a job in the US. With 2 bags in my hands and an address of the school I would work for I landed in Chicago, IL on February 17th 2006. It was COLD!
-2F plus windshield. But I was here!
Almost 5 years later, on December 1st 2010 I was sworn in as a US Citizen! :D
It took me 15 years to get to this, a long journey, but if I learned one thing in my life it is that
YOU GOTTA FIGHT FOR YOUR DREAMS!

                                             My Naturalization Certificate :D

Now I am proud to say : I am an American!
